99 mercury sable Alternator?

I have a 99 mercury sable and i believe the alternator is bad.
The car is not keeping power long enough for me to make it down to my local auto parts store to get testing. So i had planned on taking out the alternator and taking it in for testing

just a basic 3/8 drive metric socket set and a ratchet and metric wrench set,disconect negative battery cable,remove tension on serpentine belt loosen mounting bolts on altenator,electrical conectors,and wiggle it out instalation is reverse of remova
